John Roberts, 2016
John Roberts had been on my radar since Glass Eights had come out in 2010, but Plum represents leap forward for him. Whereas he'd always mixed a bit of breakbeat and deep dub with his techno slam, I hear a bit of grime creeping in now. Everything on Plum feels more elastic and flexible. It's rapid-fire but not all forward thrust. Roberts has molded his previous work into something much more three dimensional, and its shape is imrpsesive.
