Transimissions from Revarsavr

Lumisokea, 2016

Every now and again, an album will have a near perfect cover. It's not that I think the sleeve for Transimissions from Revarsavr is more impressive than it is, but more it seems to perfectly fit the music contained within. The hyper-detailed illustration depicts a mass of architectural elements that could be a haphazard slum city or the rubble after an apocalyptic event. Lumisokea constructs tracks with samples that could be sourced from a junkyard. Every note, every single beat feels chosen with care and placed with precision—which is stunning for how jumbled and cluttered the mixes are. Making an album like this is no less a feat in my eyes than traditional composition.
