The Everlasting Yeah, 2015

This is rock 101. Apparently, Everlasting Yeah is the totality of what was the 'last incarnation of That Petrol Emotion', which would mean more to me if I had ever listened to That Petrol Emotion. (Of course, being me, I am now going back and checking out their work.) I came across their bandcamp page, and from the first strains of A Little Bit of Uh-huh, I knew this was going to be a keeper. You don't start a song like that unless you know you can deliver; and boy howdy, do they. There's a lean-in, forward thrust to it all that evokes krautrock (or the post-indie-rock strains thereof). I feel like the Everlasting Yeah mine similar territory as Survival Knife, but instead of a grunge backdrop you get vintage 80s brit-pop chops. I may have come of age in the PacNW 90s, but I was a dyed in the wool britpop anglophile, so I have to give the crown to the Yeahs...
